Dr. Harsh (pronounced “Hersh”) Patel is a board-certified interventional cardiologist with special expertise in structural heart interventions, complex coronary and vascular interventions.
Dr. Harsh knew that he wanted to pursue a career in cardiology at an early age, drawing inspiration from the life-saving and compassionate care provided by Dr. Hiren to his patients. He completed his medical school training at the University of Miami, graduating at the top of his class. He was awarded the most outstanding student for excellence in Internal Medicine and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He went on to complete his internal medicine training in the premier Osler Medical Residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Thereafter he underwent rigorous fellowship training in Cardiovascular Diseases at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation, the leading institution for cardiovascular care in the US for over 30 years. Finally, he completed his training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Heart Disease at the pioneering DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center at the Houston Methodist Hospital.
In 2016, he began practicing at the Saint Francis Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he started the Mitra-Clip transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair program, performing over 160 Mitra-clip procedures. He also expanded their transcatheter aortic valve replacement and Watchman left atrial appendage closure programs. He has performed over 1000 structural heart interventions including ASD/PFO, VSD and paravalvular leak closures. He has extensive experience in complex coronary and vascular interventions including carotid stenting, endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, aorto-iliac reconstruction, below-knee interventions for critical limb ischemia, advanced heart failure therapies including placement of percutaneous right and left ventricular assist devices, mechanical thrombectomy for massive pulmonary embolism/ DVT and venous ablation for chronic venous insufficiency. He is a certified cardiac device specialist through the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners and performs pacemaker and ICD implants including bi-ventricular and subcutaneous ICDs.
